Alkoholpraten is a tool developed to help people have difficult conversations about alcohol use with someone they care about. Through guidance and practical tips tailored to each individual’s situation, the user receives support to communicate their concerns clearly and constructively. The goal is to make it safer and easier to bring up the topic, increasing the chances of a positive outcome.
The Challenge
The challenge is to create a tool that communicates visually to a broad audience — from friends and colleagues who want to address concerns about alcohol use in social settings, to family members who want to discuss drinking habits at home. Everyone needs support and guidance to have these difficult conversations.
Design Phase
The application is visualized through an almost empty bottle — a subtle symbol that something is off. The bottle is never completely empty: a small amount of liquid remains at the bottom, moving slowly and barely noticeable. This movement creates a sense of unease, hinting that something lies beneath the surface.
When the user shares their experiences or concerns, this unease becomes more apparent. The application then provides tailored advice and guidance to help the user manage the situation in the best possible way.
Implementation
The animation must be subtle so as not to distract from the user journey. Additionally, we ensure accessibility by maintaining adequate spacing between the CTA and the alcohol element.
Subtle Illustrations
The illustrations depict unhealthy drinking habits in a subtle and careful way, hinting at the seriousness of the issue. By using subtle visual cues, we avoid obvious symbolism and ensure the illustrations resonate more broadly, allowing more people to relate to them. The characters reflect those who may drink excessively or turn to alcohol when feeling sad or frustrated.
